Perfect 10 Gallon Kids Tank

A fun, forgiving, and fish-safe setup designed for kids. No water testing. No stress. Just one beautiful Betta.

  • 10-gallon kits are large enough to be stable but still kid-sized.
  • Betta fish are hardy and interactive—perfect for beginners.
  • Live plants + gentle filtration = low stress and cleaner water.
  • No need for testing: consistent water changes + Seachem Prime/ Stability handle it all.

  • 10-gallon kit with lid, heater, filter, and light
  • 1 Betta (halfmoon, veiltail, or crowntail)
  • Live plants: Java fern, anubias, hornwort (no trimming needed)
  • Gravel or sand substrate (no sharp edges)
  • Seachem Prime (dechlorinator)
  • Seachem Stability (beneficial bacteria)
  • Fish food: Betta pellets (2–3 per day)
  • Small gravel siphon and bucket

  • Rinse substrate and decor (no soap!)
  • Add substrate, decor, and plants
  • Fill slowly with tap water — use Seachem Prime per instructions
  • Plug in heater and filter (keep flow gentle for Betta)
  • Dose with Seachem Stability for 7 days
  • Wait 5–7 days before adding fish

  • Every Saturday or Sunday:
    • Change 30–40% of the water with dechlorinated tap water (Prime)
    • Use siphon to clean bottom (avoid disturbing plants)
    • Top off water as needed during week (dechlorinate)
    • Feed Betta once per day (2–3 pellets)
  • Tip: Skipping a feeding day weekly is fine — helps prevent bloating.

  • Use a timer for the light (8 hrs/day)
  • Don’t overfeed — bettas are small!
  • Never wash filter media with tap water — rinse in tank water only
  • Tell kids: “It’s like taking care of a plant with fins”
